You are looking at a photo of an Aguaruna Indian. I know him. His name is Elario He was my neighbor.
I went with my family to the Amazon jungle to introduce the God of the Bible to that tribe of Jivaro headhunters. I did not speak or understand a word of Elario’s language. That man had never seen a Bible. He had never heard the name of Jesus. In the Aguaruna language there is no word for God and no word for love. He has no concept of heaven and hell. He does not believe in life after death. A man dies like any other animal of the jungle and that is the end.
Can you imagine how difficult it was to present the Gospel message to a heathen animistic mind so that one Indian would understand and have faith to believe that Jesus could save him?
The goal of this blog is to enable Nazarene pastors to confront the challenge they face when people like Elario move into their neighborhood who have absolutely no knowledge of the God of the Bible.
Read Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23 and try to explain those verses to my friend Elario or to a Muslem or a Vietnamese who moves into your neighborhood. This is a blog, not a website. Your comments are welcome.
